Petula and the Oobleck

Do you remember this book?

You might remember it a little differently from how it looks here (this copy is from a rare limited-edition printing).
This version tells the tragic tale of when oobleck filled poor Petula's head and lungs, causing her to become a putrescent, hacking, spewing mass of germs who needed to flee from proper society.
Yup, that's me with the plaid pants, pointy shoes and green ooze about my torso. Pretty, huh?
Unfortunately, I've been performing a re-enactment of that historic event, and am much too busy (and oobleck-headed) to blog. Hopefully I'll be back with you soon.

Isn't She Lovely?

We're test-driving an older-model Francis Francis! espresso machine.
She refuses to pull a decent shot, but with looks like that, who needs personality?

According to reviews I've read, the newer models do a much better job.
Sadly, buying a new one would mean no money for groceries for several months, and what's the point of an espresso machine if you can't buy the coffee to put in it?
Oh well, perhaps I'll put a new one on my dream appliance list - right after the La Cornue range in summer blue (I'd also take this one, I'm not picky).

and they called it Bunny Love

Morris had been reading a particularly moving passage in The Pruning of Trees and was overcome with emotion. Midge reached out to let him know she was there.
They know love is more about the little day-to-day moments than big flowery gestures one day a year (not that Midge doesn't love receiving a delicious juicy bouquet now and then).

Happy Valentine's Day from the whole Darling family!

Valentine's Day

Davis and I are a little erratic with our Valentine's celebrations.
Some years the day involves flowers, homemade heart-shaped cakes, and hand-crafted gifts. Other years it's more of a "here's a pack of gum" sort of an occasion.
It says little about how we're feeling about each other. In fact, if anything, the emotion-to-gift ratio might be an inverse one (the better the relationship, the crappier the gifts).
We must be doing exceptionally well right now, because I don't think either of us has a clue about what we're giving to the other.
There's still plenty of time, though, right?

This valentine here is one I made a few years ago. It's a candy Sweetheart surrounded by five graduated mats, glass and a paper and ribbon frame I concocted (it measures about 5"x5" )

Little Red Redux

Words are failing me...just watch (and shield the young ones).

Let's give thanks that they didn't make lentographs from these scenes.
It's all fun and games 'til someone loses an eye.

Am I Blue?

No (unless you're referring to my hypothermia-induced complexion), but lately it seems like everything I bring home is.
New footwear, bakeware, bedware and bunnies - all blue!

(yes, I know the bunny is a little scary in that creepy-clown way, but I like him. )
